Clear the cessions by selecting the radio button. Select the data from the legend and then hover over a cession or state on the map to get more information.
Click on a Land Grant University point to add the associated cessions or to add the name when states are shown.
In 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Morrill Act, which distributed public domain lands that were also tribal lands to raise funds for 52 colleges across the nation.
